Spotify has refreshed its premium offerings in India, introducing four paid subscription plans designed to cater to a wider range of listeners. The updated lineup now includes Spotify Premium Lite, Standard, Student, and Platinum—each offering ad-free music streaming with varying levels of audio quality and special features. Alongside the new plans, Spotify has also rolled out a powerful AI-driven feature called Audiobooks Recaps, which delivers AI-generated summaries for audiobook segments users have already listened to.
Four Premium Plans Now Available in India
Spotify Premium Lite is the most affordable option at ₹139 per month, providing high-quality audio (up to 160kbps) for a single user. The Standard plan, priced at ₹199 per month, offers very high audio quality (up to 320kbps), along with the ability to download songs and audiobooks for offline listening. Students enrolled in accredited institutions can opt for the Student Premium plan, which offers the same benefits as Standard at just ₹99 per month.
The top-tier Premium Platinum plan costs ₹299 per month and includes exclusive AI-powered features such as AI DJ, AI Playlist Creation, and Mix Your Playlists. It supports up to three accounts, provides lossless audio up to 44.1kHz, and even allows users to integrate DJ software with Spotify.
Spotify Introduces AI-Powered Audiobooks Recaps
In addition to new plans, Spotify has launched the Audiobooks Recaps feature in beta for select English-language audiobooks on iOS. This tool adds a Recap button that generates summarized audio of previously played sections—without spoilers. Importantly, publishers’ content won’t be used to train large language models, and they can opt out if desired. A wider rollout is expected soon.
